Archaeological excavations at Jokiniemi
In the summer of 2024 a 5,500-year-old Stone Age settlement in Jokiniemi was investigated with the permission of the Finnish Heritage Agency.
The course was organized in cooperation with the Helsinki Summer University.
The teachers of the course are FM Jan Fast and FM Janne Soisalo.
A lecture on the results of the excavations
The results of the excavations will be announced on Thursday 12.12. at 18–20 at Heureka. You can attend the lecture on site or via remote connection.
The lecture will tell you what was found in the excavations and what those discoveries tell about life in the Stone Age settlement of Jokiniemi. At the lecture, you can admire the excavation findings with your own hands.
The lecture is a public event free of charge and open to everyone. However, please register in advance!
