Science on the ball

Vaisala
is an active player in the international scientific community and works in cooperation with Tiedekeskus Heureka to increase people's awareness and understanding of natural sciences, innovations and the environment. Cooperation is one of Vaisala's ways to encourage both young and older generations to become interested in science and promote the development of innovations.

" The Science on a Ball site is particularly important to Vaisala: Our mission "Observations for a better world" is very concretely realized there. This is the planet that is our home. Knowing, studying and protecting it is vital for all of us. The Mars section, on the other hand, increases our understanding of space and planetary research and the role of technology as a solution to the big megatrends of our time. I hope the exhibition also broadens the visitors' perception of their own career opportunities: the sky is not the limit," says Vaisala's communications manager Miia Lahti .

"Collaboration with Heureka is natural, smooth and, above all, inspiring. I see a future full of possibilities, because science education is an important area for us, in which we want to be involved. We want to encourage children and young people to work in science and research. The world, the earth and our everyday life are full of small miracles that we too rarely stop to appreciate. Heureka and I share a common interest in scientific phenomena and the nature of a curious explorer. In addition, we have in common the desire to sow the seeds of enthusiasm for research and science to a wide audience," continues Miia.

Vaisala has supported the "Science on a ball" project, where the equipment of four video projectors projects animated images on the surface of a parimetric sphere, which describe current phenomena on Earth and in space. During guided presentations, participants get to analyze satellite data collected from the oceans, climate, earth's crust and space.
